We spoke to juicy Mum Kay Reynolds about how she got into juicing, coping with her medical problems and what how she found the Juice Master retreats that she’s been on…
What got you into jucing?
I first got into juicing because I was always tired and knew this was almost certainly connected to my poor diet. I also wanted to lose weight. I didn’t want to go on a so called ‘diet’ as I know these don’t work. In the past I had tried every diet under the sun. I would lose a few pounds, be as miserable as sin and then pile even more weight back on. (sounds familiar?).
This time I wanted a different approach and I was looking for something to increase my energy and felt sure the weight loss would then follow. I spotted Jason’s book ‘Turbo Charge Your Life in 14 Days’ in a book shop. This I thought immediately, was the book I had been looking for. I had not really heard about jucing before.
I was not disappointed. It was packed with amazing pschology, a workable everyday plan and some fantastic recipes. I quickly adapted to an amazing routine of preparing wonderful fresh juices twice a day and then enjoying a simple freshly prepared meal in the evening. It was very easy to fit into my busy schedule as working Mum and Carer.
What results have you had?
The results were almost instant and within a very short time my energy levels increased and I lost 1/2 stone seemingly effortlessly. I was so thrilled by the results that I went onto Jason’s website and saw the advert for his detox retreats in Turkey.
I have been going regularly on these retreats and without doubt it has been the best investment I have ever made in terms of health, fun and personal development. I have gone from being a couch potato to someone who is addicted to exercise and does regular long distance cycles and 10km runs. The support and encouragement from the Juicy Team on these retreats is priceless. I have made friendships which I cherish.
How has Juicing changed your life?
I have had so many positive results from adapting to the juicy way of life but this one is particularly significant to me. Approximately 10 years ago I suffered a mild heart attack. It was a bit of a mystery to say the least as I was only 37 years old.
The consequence of this, is that I have been on quite a high dose of medication to control blood pressure. The side effects of which include extreme tiredness and blurred vision. This has really been getting me down and recently I started to look at the risks of stopping this medication. It was difficult because if I went to my GP I know they would have taken the official line and recommended that I continue with the tablets. Anyway I decided to stop taking the medication and have my blood pressure checked a couple of weeks after stopping (without telling the nurse what I had done) and she couldn’t believe it.
She exclaimed that I had the blood pressure of a teenager!!!! You can imagine my delight. I then discussed my decision with a Consultant Physician who said that if I continue with my current lifestyle if he was me he wouldn’t take the tablets. I truly believe these blood pressure results are a direct consequence of my juicing and exercising.
As a consequence of not taking the blood pressure tablets my energy levels have rocketed and together with the amazing feeling from juicing and exercising I am truly flying.
I have encouraged as many friends who will listen to juice and this has effected the lives of people in my office and other friends who have seen the huge changes in me and my weight. I am very lucky that my husband has endorsed the juicy life style and he prepares me beautiful juices for breakfast and lunch. We are also lucky to have a special fridge just for fruit and vegetables.
How did you find the retreats compared to your expectations of what they would be like?
The retreats far far exceeded my expectations. I knew it was going to be great fun and inspiring but I can honestly say it was one of best weeks of my life. Fun exercise, in paradise like surroundings with like minded people is a mix which keeps me returning year after year. The nourishment you receive both physically and mentally is addictive. The week has been so well thought through with obvious passion. The week gives me a whole new perspective on time management and when I return home I find fitting exercise into my daily routine effortless. I feel the money and time I invest in this week gives me a return that lasts for ever.
What advice you would give to someone sceptical about juicing?
I have lost 2 1/2 stone and feel at least 10 years younger and am enjoying exercise on a regular basis. I would urge anyone to start with the ‘Turbo Charge Your Life in 14 days’. Just try it for 14 days, You have nothing to lose except weight but so much to gain in terms of great health, energy, and well being. Its a no brainer really!!!!!
What’s your favourite juice?
I have two favourite juices one is the oh so simple sherbet lemonade and the other is a beautiful mixture of juiced celery, cucumber and apple blended with banana and served with crushed ice.
